This review is of the DVD. If you haven’t seen this 1958 classic in widescreen format, you really haven’t seen it. Director Vincente Minnelli (Liza’s father) fills each frame beautifully, often composing scenes reminiscent of the impressionist painters he so loved, such as Renoir or Seurat. Letterbox-haters, this is a ample test of the superiority of seeing a movie the blueprint the director intended, not crammed into the 1:1.33 TV camouflage. (The DVD includes both versions, so comparison comes cheap.)

The year is 1900. Gigi (Leslie Caron) is a pubescent young woman who becomes more and more shapely to millionaire Gaston Lachaille (Louis Jordan) . But Gigi’s family has a tradition of “Instead of marrying at once, it sometimes happens we obtain married at last.” Making the tradition from pre-teen to exquisite young woman, awkward Gigi is “trained” in the arts of catering to men, such as choosing a cigar, walking elegantly and pouring coffee in the best French manner. The payoff for this kind of training is to acquire a rich young gentleman’s bed–until he tires of this courtesan and moves on. While level-headed in favor, the lady in inquire lives in luxurious style: tutor Aunt Alicia (Isabel Jeans) advises her charge to “Wait for the first-class jewels, Gigi. Contain on to your ideals.”

The team of Lerner and Loewe wrote songs for this musical that include such favorites as “Thank Heaven for Tiny Girls” and “The Night They Invented Champagne.” On its initial release “Gigi” was touted as the cinematic equivalent of their atomize Broadway play “My Gorgeous Lady,” as the movie trailer on this DVD makes apparent. Gigi won a slew of Oscars, beating out the presumed celebrated, Susan Heyward in “I Want to Live.”

It is no mistake that the compilation film of MGM’s best musicals, “That’s Entertainment,” features Gigi as the last chronological example of the MGM high-quality, lavish musical. Minnelli would go on to snort many more films, including the 1960 musical “Bells Are Ringing” with Judy Holliday and Dean Martin, but “Gigi” was really MGM’s “swan song” for expensive musicals, which were getting harder and harder to mount because of television and changing musical tastes (like Elvis) .

With a lot of begging and pleading from the director and producer, the studio spent enough money in Hollywood to duplicate Maxim’s restaurant and the Ice Gallery, a current meeting-place for the 1900 elite. Minnelli’s visual wit is visible in the plan he frequently uses precise Parisian backgrounds of fountains and statuary, indirectly symbolizing and commenting on the mental residence of the actor in front.

The whole cast is well-behaved, including Hermione Gingold as Gigi’s grandmother and the incomparable Maurice Chevalier as Gaston’s uncle, Honore Lachaille. It is itsy-bitsy wonder that this film is the very favorite–or cessation to it–among lovers of musicals. “Gigi” is first-class all the map. Even people who don’t often select musicals may well savor the film for its masterly visual style and recreation of turn-of-the (last) century Paris.

What more can I say? Score ahold of this film Moral NOW while the label is so noble. I don’t consider you’ll regret it.

Last year HBO released the complete series of this ground-breaking exhibit with the very high pricetag we’ve arrive to interrogate from any HBO unique series on DVD. As for the series itself, if the Godfather saga was the notion of the mafia from the executive suite, this series is a complex memoir of the mafia from the working man’s point of belief. If you’ve never watched this expose, you’re in for an extended treat. Yes, there is violence and nudity, but it is never gratuitous and is needed to disagreement Tony Soprano, the thinking man’s gangster, with the reality of the life he has been born to and, quite frankly, would not ever have left even brilliant how so many of his associates have ended up. Tony Soprano can discuss Sun Tzu with his therapist, then beat a man to death with a frying pan in a fit of rage, and while dismembering and disposing of the body with his nephew, purchase a shatter, sit down and peruse TV while eating peanut butter out of the jar, and give that nephew advice on his upcoming marriage like they had impartial finished a Sunday afternoon of viewing NFL football. Even Carmella, his wife, when given a chance for a device out, finds that she really prefers life with Tony and the perks that go with it and looking the other plan at his indiscretions versus life on her contain. If you followed the whole thing, you know how it ends. If you didn’t, trust me you’ve never seen a TV point to slay like this.

This is the best sounding 5.1 channel DVD that I have heard so far! The thunderstorms sound like the true thing and the dialog is always crisp and distinct. This disc includes both widescreen and tubby mask versions of the movie. Unfortunately, there aren’t any safe special features on this disc (thats why only 4 stars instead of 5) . I would have liked to have seen some gradual the scenes info. This film has pretty visual effects and it would be nice to study the computer art gurus in action! Even without special features, this disc is worth the money. It will squeeze every fall of performance out of your home theater!

Probably the best inconvenience movie made about tornadoes/twisters. The special effects were really spicy if you can overlook the mistaken scenes enhanced for dramatic achieve. It was a qualified balance between the yarn and the action. Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton were really superior - actually the whole cast was unbelievable.

It was with grand anticipation that I viewed The Third Man recently. I had last seen it nearly 25 years earlier. At the earlier viewing I was impressed with the atmospheric treatment of Vienna and the mystery surrounding Joseph Cotton’s search for the truth about his friend Harry (Orson Wells) . However, though I then notion of it as a very radiant movie, I did not deem it would cross in my top 20. Now I glance what I missed as a younger person. I can also spy why this film would immoral as number one on a British list of greatest films of the 20th century.

The film is a surreal examination of the tension between loyalty, esteem, and friendship on the one hand, and truth and justice on the other. The Viennese are suffused with the cynicism of a destroyed continent and damaged culture. The British know only about the truth and justice side of the equation. The American writer of simple westerns collected is naïve enough to care about friendship and truth, and follows both wherever they lead. At the same time, Carol Reed scarcely shoots a scene in which there are moral angles. Nearly everything is tilted. Close-ups of faces exaggerate their features. The dim and white of the film emphasizes the sad nature of the fable and its good underpinnings.

At first Holly Martins (Cotton) thinks he is helping his best friend, Harry Lime (Wells) . At the same time he becomes Harry’s rival for the woman, Anna. When Harry realizes that Holly has discovered his upright noxious arrangement, Harry has a chance to execute Holly and effect it gape like an accident. What stops him? Friendship? And why does Harry secure Holly’s invitation to meet? In the penultimate scene in the underground sewer tunnels, does Holly fire the final and fatal shot, or does Harry waste himself?

This magnificently filmed and wonderfully acted masterpiece has remained in my mind for days after seeing it. If you are a lover of cinema and not merely of movies, please score this classic. It richly deserves its reputation. Highly recommended.

No wonder, we like him, even though we know what he’d done…

It has been said thousands of times about the greatest movie entrance ever - but what about his ‘exit’ - the fingers on the street? I mediate it is one of the greatest, too…

A graceful mysterious girl with tragic past was in appreciate with him and the unforgettable ending, so anti-Hollywood, so honest to the film - was about her savor that goes beyond the grave. I read that both Selznick (the producer) and author Graham Greene had initially argued for something more upbeat (Holly and Anna walking off arm-in-arm), but Reed disagreed. I am so overjoyed that Reed won (I am certain millions of fans are, too) . That was the plot to do the movie and get it grand more than unbiased typical noir. Makes the viewer reflect about esteem, friendship, betrayal, loyalty, the sign one pays for them.

Amazing film - perfectly shot; almost flawless. It looks and feels like Welles himself could’ve made it. The influence of Citizen Kane is undeniable. The only spot I had - the music. I like it but it was very peculiar to hear it in the film like The Third Man. Maybe that was a purpose - instead of somber, glum, and ominous music that would be expected for the noir film, something completely different and out of position - happy but unfortunate in the same time…

Criterion DVD is astonishing - the restored version of the film shines. There are two openings of the film available - British and American, and a lot of extras.

Most movie sequels I’ve seen were awful remakes of the unique. But UNDER SIEGE 2: Sunless TERRITORY delivers some excitment, holding your attention.

Steven Seagal reprises his rule as the Navy cook/martial arts champion serving knuckle sandwiches to hijackers who select over a drawl. Seagal’s in top John Wayne execute, speaking slowly and softly and not saying too remarkable. And as in the first film, he’s at times humorous, with one wisecrack you won’t forget. …

Eric Bogosian adds flavor as a slimey villain, another reason UNDER SIEGE 2 rises above the average sequel. Bogosian matches the high-energy performance he gave several years ago in the movie TALK RADIO.

Is it a Hollywood law to cast women as only sex objects or victims? Katherine Heigl fills the role of the latter in UNDER SIEGE 2. Despite her reliable looks, she plays Steven Seagal’s niece - not his appreciate interest. I convey that’s something you would not predict. But clear enough, the villains retract Ms. Heigl and it’s up to Uncle Steve to establish her ravishing miniature head.

See UNDER SIEGE 2: Dim TERRITORY. It’s a gash above both action flicks and sequels.

And this is a rare thing . . . a sequel that’s unprejudiced as righteous as the new. Steven Segal is the cook again, and he boards the Stout Continental luxury roar insist with his niece. But wretchedness brews . . . a group of terrorists led by a disgruntled ex-CIA operative hijack the voice to assume control of a covert set satellite weapons platform, holding the passengers hostage and blackmailing the Pentagon and others into paying a expansive ransom. And, of course, ex-Navy SEAL Casey Ryback(SEGAL) goes into action to halt the terrorists from causing a nuclear attack on the Pentagon with the state weapon. OK, the residence is mind candy, but this movie delivers some attractive action scenes and speeds along with a enormous sense of urgency as it thrills! The DVD enhances the enjoyment colossal style as the action comes across as more explosive, the sound effects will rock your living room! The cinematography is also nice to scrutinize at - sizable scenery and mumble footage for any railroad buffs(like me) watching. Also, if one looks at the film’s climax, one could say it was inspired by a radiant 1976 movie called THE CASSANDRA CROSSING, which I would also strongly recommend. But as far as UNDER SIEGE 2 goes, nobody beats Steven Segal in the kitchen!

To obtain it out of the contrivance first, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie–I am spacious fan of the Rurouni Kenshin series, and the movie, while not quite as advantageous as the series’ best parts, succeeded in giving me more of the same stuff I treasure so distinguished (as long as you don’t behold the horrific English dub–even compared to the series’ English dub it’s putrid) .

Now on to the primary part–the confusion that has been steeped upon this release. Here’s what everyone should know, but seems to ignore (at least in reviews) : “Samurai X” is the American title passe to replace the Japanese title, “Rurouni Kenshin,” when this movie and the OVA’s were released by ADV. The current series (it came first, only after the humorous) is being released under its current title by Anime Works. The Kenshin OVA’s (under the American titles “Samurai X: Trust” and “Samurai X: Betrayal”) were made later as a prequel to the series, chronicling the early days of Battousai the Manslayer/Hitokiri. By the time the series begins, 10 years later, the main character Kenshin has given up his past role of Battousai in order to somehow design up for his evils, so he lives as a wandering swordsman (note: not a samurai by any means, ever!) who refuses to raze. The Rurouni Kenshin movie takes location around the time of the series–as in, the same supporting cast appears, and Kenshin is currently a wanderer. Not only does the movie’s fable occur within the context of the series, but stylistically it fits as well.

Comparing the RK movie to the OVA series, in terms of record or style, is useless. They are two completely different works based on the same series, one made to represent the shaded and violent aspects of Kenshin’s early life, and the other meant to act as a sing companion to the material in the series. One reviewer relates the series and OVA’s as being two seperate universes, and the movie an amalgamation of the two. Well, that is unbiased flat-out unfavorable. All three works have been created along a timeline in terms of record, and in the case of style, have been created to judge the period of Kenshin’s that is being chronicled. The only reason the name “Samurai X” was given to the OVA’s and movie was to get them witness “cooler” for an American audience by Sony & ADV after they acquired the rights. The American name says nothing about the contents.

The timing of this film is after the ‘Samurai X’ OVA’s. The year is 1879, sometime during the progress of the ‘Rurouni Kenshin’ television series. The bloody overthrow of the Tokugawa Shogunate has been followed by the Meiji restoration, but all is not well. Samurai led by Takimi Shigure regret the passing of the venerable days and understanding to begin a counter-revolution. Himura Kenshin, one of the samurai who fought to overthrow the Shogunate, finds himself forced by destiny to oppose Shigure. In the past, a mistake by Shigure left his closest friend, Takatsuki Gentatsu without sufficient resources for a raid. Unknown to Shigure, Kenshin is the samurai who killed Gentatsu. Both men were deeply affected by this, at the restoration of the Meiji, Shigure was sworn to vengeance. And Kenshin had his sword blade reversed, definite never to waste with his sword again.

Now, in Yokohama, Shigure plots the death of the British Governor. When Kenshin helps protect Takatsuki Toki (Gentatsu’s sister) Shigure befriends Kenshin and eventually asks him to rob care of Toki if something should happen to him. In the meantime, forces in the government intend to employ Shigure as a means for achieving their have ends, creating a multi-layered scenario of betrayals that will culminate in the final battle between the two pleasant opponents.

Despite (or perhaps because of) the highly romanticized depiction of samurai behavior and swordmanship, this becomes a dramatically keen anecdote instead of a simple memoir of blood and swashbuckling. Kenshin’s youthful appearance and the antics of his friends retain the film from being overwhelmingly tragic. Thus it is a well-balanced place with many subtexts to add to its richness.

Artistically, the film is first-class. The battle scenes are cleanly detailed, and the choreography of the sword fights is beautifully done, if a bit fantastical. The scenes have a fluid grace that will cause the viewer to halt action often, impartial to cherish the illustration. This film, and the related tales of Rurouni Kenshin dwelling a modern standard for Samurai based anime, that is rarely equaled. Watching the OVA series before seeing the movie version will provide the viewer with useful background information, but the film stands quite well on its contain, making it a fitting introduction to this favorite and long-running series.

In 2007, the Western showed serve up at the box office in a trio of films that came out roughly at the same time. 3:10 TO YUMA was the first out of the gate, but it was followed in speedy order by THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD ROBERT FORD and NO COUNTRY FOR Passe MEN.

Christian Bale stars as Dan Evans, a one-legged, down-on-his-luck rancher struggling to maintain a home together for his wife and two kids. Russell Crowe plays Ben Wade, an bright and heartless outlaw who’s leading one of the blood-thirstiest gangs to ever retract up the owlhoot skedaddle.

Later, after taking Byron McElroy into town for medical attention, Dan confronts Hollander, the man who’s trying to hasten him off his land. When Hollander won’t give him an extension on his loan, Dan finds Wade and helps pick him captive. Then he agrees to assist transport him to Yuma for $200.

The movie rapid spins out into the action of the violent road stagger. In addition to being one of the fastest gunmen around, Wade is also a skilled psychological warrior, constantly taunting his captors and seeking out their weaknesses.

The action involves traveling through hostile Indian lands, meeting up with a team of killers working the railroad coming through the situation, and a final showdown in Yuma that is one of the most though-provoking I’ve ever seen in a Western.

For two hours, I sat marveling at the characters, then tensely awaiting the outcome of the latest grief they were all facing. Even then, the twists and turns of the characters, the benefit stories they were all hiding till the very last moment, were awesome. No one was quite who I notion they were.

Westerns succeed best by having suited men with a history of awful violence and unpleasant men who haven’t completely gone over to the dim side. 3:10 TO YUMA is one of those.

One caveat I will offer to people who have seen the unusual movie starring Glenn Ford and Van Heflin, this version does NOT follow the same paths or ruin up the same scheme. Request to be surprised and timid at how things turn out. And you’ll be tense nearly the whole scheme through.

The Western genre is stunning rare nowadays–the Hollywood of today usually prefers other kinds of films (we feel you Clint Eastwood) . Fortunately for the die-hard fans of the classic Spaghetti Western, the waiting is over. 3:10 to Yuma is one of the best Western film in years and probably one of the best films of 2007 overall. Not only we acquire profitable performances by Crowe and Bale, but the film captures the Western film traditions from the past–everything from a compelling sage with a sense of justice and broad gun action. Brief Intro Story:

The gang goes to town and while Wade is alone and having fun with a local girl, he gets captured by the authorities while he is talking to Evans–who made it to town anyways. But they need extra assist to transport him to collect a instruct that will bewitch him to prison, and that’s where Evans volunteers to help–for $200 dollars. He doesn’t know that transporting this irascible bandit will turn his life around.

Review:

Director James Mangold (Dawdle the Line) has created an instant Western classic in almost every aspect. Here we earn two cowboys, who are on different sides of the law, but at the same time, there is a sense of fellowship, loyalty and conception between them–Not only their acting is impressive, there is so noteworthy chemistry on veil. In one hand, we have the outlaw Ben Wade who is a casual guy, a bit of a playboy, but he can be vicious if you push his buttons. despite all the immorality and his cockiness; he is a likeable character nevertheless. Then we have Evans who is a serious man of integrity, a loving father that will do everything he can to befriend his family righteously. There is a point in the film where his loyalty is keep to the test, as well as the will to continue with the mission–this is the point of no return when it’s not even about the money anymore. The two characters blend towards the ruin, they finally understand each other and perform one of the best endings in novel memory.

Technically speaking, 3:10 to Yuma is a marvel to contemplate. We acquire the classic spy and feel of the Customary West with pleasant cinematography, intense gun battle sequences and gracious costume build. Perhaps for many, the first act might be a bit listless, but after Wade gets captured, the film picks up with mountainous drama and suspense. Tulsa is a solid Eagle-Lion film that places Hayward in Oklahoma during the oil train of the 20’s. Her father is a rancher who is killed while feuding with a local oil drilling company that happens to have a border on his property (he is killed in an accident while trying to sigh the drillers to terminate polluting his cattle’s water supply) . When faced with losing the land that her father valued so powerful Hayward decides if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em (and then beat them at their hold game) . Her transformation from anti-oil drilling advocate to oil baron is actually scripted fairly well, and her performance is believable. The movie is pure Hollywood, but estimable Hollywood. There are no major surprises, but the movie is written, acted, and directed with such class that the standard Hollywood spot devices arrive off fairly well. The supporting cast is also quite excellent, featuring Robert Preston, Pedro Armendariz, and Ed Begley. Tulsa isn’t a mountainous movie, but it ends up being a safe one that is very consuming.

Smash-Up is a marginally better movie, and Hayward was nominated for an Academy Award for her performance as a singer who gives up her career to be a wife and mother. She is married to another singer whose career takes off impartial after she has given up her acquire. She has a hard time dealing with his success, and developes a jealousy towards his female personal assistant. While trying to cope with all of that she falls into alcoholism, and spirals downward until hitting rock bottom. Smash-Up is another well written movie, and Hayward was given a role that perfectly showcases her acting abilities. The DVD from Acme DVD Works (VCI) is fairly fine. The prints of both of these movies seem to be the same prints stale by other public domain companies, but the DVD mastering/authoring here seems to be a slight better as the movies examine sharper and have better disagreement here than on some other public domain DVDs. The prints mature are not stout, however, so neither movie truly looks mountainous on this DVD - this is honest the best that I have seen either of them witness.

Both of these movies are suited, spicy films that have up under repeated viewings, and they demonstrate why many people retract the golden age of Hollywood to the movies being made today.

SMASH-UP (1946) and TULSA (1949) give the DVD-viewer and potential Susan Heyward admirer a chance to sight her strut her stuff before the wide acclaim she achieved with such movies as THE JANE FROHMAN Legend and I WANT TO LIVE in the 1950s.

SMASH-UP is arguably the better of the two movies because of its good-sized and proper cast, and because the topic it deals with, alcoholism, receives fairly sensitive treatment. Miss Heyward plays a veteran lounge singer bolted into the stratosphere socially and money-wise when her struggling composer husband finally hits pay dirt. But with the riches reach inceased insecurity on Heyward’s piece, as her character descends from the “couple of drinks” drinker to true alcoholism and at one point loses custody of her baby.

This film makes an gripping compare/contrast with the prior year’s “prestige film” success, LOST WEEKEND (1945) . Of the two, LW treats its subject more graphically, and a bit more psychologically (”writer’s block,” we are told, but many critics have argued for homosexual guilt instead) . Heyward’s SMASH-UP deals with its subject under both extinct and unique paradigms: the montage sequence of her dragging from one lounge to another in midtown Manhattan is well-done but the kind of already-cliched treatment so wittily sent up on TV’s THE SIMPSONS. More convincing, or at least more in tune with our unusual outlook, is the recognition that alcoholism is a disease, not a character defect as such.

Above all we have Heyward’s trimphant and intense character making this well-cast and well-formed film her very hold. Several years later TULSA gave her a right star vehicle: a rags to riches to rags saga of an Oklahoma cattle queen turned oil queen and at one point as environmentally corrupt as the oil men she former to abominate. An intense and bravura film in very strong color, but not as well cast nor played quite as well as SMASH-UP in my humble conception.

Other than a newsreel and trailer there are no other bells-and-whistles on this film duo. The films are easy enough to search for but clearly did not receive the kind of digital restoration that comes almost automatically on so many films-to-DVD today. Serene, suited entertainment at a fine effect and I doubt that Heyward fans will have grand to complain about.

Knowing this film centers itself on a police department trying to acquire control of the drug trade in the midst of the Katrina aftermath, it was fitting that it can be called a difficulty. From the amusing accents that fade, to the base camera work, to the 3D style effects of flashbacks, to the stop-style editing (the film freezes prior to each travel to dismal nick), to that horrendous ending - all made for another frustrating outing for Kilmer.

Kilmer plays a boy scout drug cop fighting the dreadful guys on the streets and in the FBI. His partner is 50 Cent (sadly enough his best role to date) who cannot seem to resolve if he is beneficial or terrible. Michael Biehn plays the FBI agent trying to spice things up (failing miserably) and Sharon Stone (scarily unrecognizable) plays the department shrink who violates probably every rule there can be - including having four different accents in the same film. Our situation meanders from Katrina to several years after as our faulty characters slay and rob their design through their PD work. One memorable moment is when Kilmer and 50 Cent are going to shoot 20 armed guys in an abandoned school, Val gave the staunch same speech from Tombstone in the same accent - deja vu.

There are no special features, terrible film quality and sound that is intermittently mixed at best. I was hoping for more as this film made the promo posters, and I really tried to give it a solid shot, but after attempting to overlook the laundry list of issues I then got to that last shot - literally - and was appalled they ended the film that plan.

Gave it one more star for the Katrina aftermath footage they included in the credits, heartbreaking as always.

Fat Val gets a payday and stoops to working with bucktoothed non acting Fitty Cent. Sharon Stone quiet looks noble but doesn’t have distinguished to do. This movie is really crappy. The myth of corruption in Unique Orleans and the post Katrina atmosphere would be a marvelous backdrop for a narrative but this is garbage.

I finally got around to purchasing and watching Rurouni Kenshin: The Story of Kyoto. I was expecting it to be as pleasant as the first status (Wandering Samurai) but I got a whole lot more than I bargined for. The “Myth of Kyoto” site is qualified! The english pronounce cast was amazing! The hiss actors that were particularly impressive include Richard Hayworth as Kenshin (Incredible job! This man has talent!), David Lucas as Mokoto Shishio (Beautifully performed! He really makes you want to abhor him by the ruin of the series.), Sparky Thornton as Hajime Saito (Very well done! The “Wolf of Mibu” indeed!) and of course, one of the best known english philosophize actors in anime, Wendee Lee as Yumi (She’s a seasoned pro. Nothing short of excellence in her performance.)

In these episodes worthy is revealed about Kenshin’s past, as well as that of many of the other central characters that will appear in this series. The character development is great. There is no useless information, and it never becomes dreary or confusing. The animation is glorious, and the swordfight scenes are executed magnificently. There are no repeating frames or sloppy drawings in any of the battles. The music is astounding and helps to emphasize many of the intense moments in the “Kyoto” series. I especially savor the opening theme “Half” by Makoto Kawamoto, and I worship the closing themes, “Heart of the Sword - Before Daybreak” performed by L’Arc-en-Ciel, and “Let it Rain” by Bonnie Pink. And finally there is the narrative.

Kenshin Himura, commonly known as “Battousai: The Manslayer,” was the strongest fighter in the Revolution 10 years ago. But since then he has opened his eyes to the sins of his past and decided to become a wanderer, never to ruin again. He is now a kind, gentle, wise, and sometimes goofy, young man who always captures the hearts of the people he aids. Instead, he uses his current reverse-blade sword to protect his loved ones and anyone who is in need of protection.

In the “Story of Kyoto” series Kenshin is asked by one of the top men in the Meiji government to go to Kyoto and discontinuance Makoto Shishio from trying to capture over Japan. This is no simple task because Shishio, like Kenshin, was also a Manslayer. In fact, Shishio inherited the title from Kenshin after he became a wanderer. Kenshin makes the most painful decision of his life and leaves his friends and his modern home to go support to Kyoto, the state where he became a manslayer. Kenshin joins forces with ultra-cool, and equally perilous Hajime Saito, who now works for the police force, but was once a manslayer of skill equal to that of Kenshin. However, Kenshin’s friends are not about to sit idly by and see their beloved friend go to Kyoto and fight alone. Kaoru, Sanosuke and Yahiko will all fade to Kyoto to benefit Kenshin.

Aoshi Shinamori, an ragged rival and leader of the Oniwaban group returns with a vengence seeking a rematch with Kenshin, and the remaining members of the Oniwaban group are met by Kenshin and his friends in Kyoto. Also, Shishio has a lethal group of warriors known as the Juppongatana who each have their absorb reasons for working with Shishio. And finally, we find to study the man responsible for training Kenshin in the Hitten Mitsurugi Ryu, Seijuro Hiko the 13th (My favourite character. I fancy this guy!) . Hiko is a expansive, elegant, menacing-looking man with unmatched skill and knowledge in the Hitten Mitsurugi Ryu. He is very wise, radiant, and incredibly arrogant (Or he has extremely high self-confidence, depending on how you glimpse at it), and he has a relentless like for saki. Kenshin visits his master and asks him to order him the ultimate technique of the Hitten Mitsurugi Ryu. He goes from wanderer to pupil once more for the sake of defeating Shishio. How Hiko and Kenshin met is revealed along with some humorous and touching flashbacks from when Kenshin was under Seijuro’s training when he was younger.

The “Yarn of Kyoto” area is, without a doubt, the most remarkable station of episodes in the entire Rurouni Kenshin series. Here, it is emphasized that a fighting style cannot rely on mere strength alone, but requires a strong spirit and extensive skill that can only be acheived by years of intense training. In other words, it’s not mindless fighting that holds no meaning. The mood of the series becomes worthy darker and more serious than in the first status. But it also contains several genuinly droll moments. Kenshin continues to relate others that killing is never the respond to anything, and that living your life peacefully may be difficult, but is what will ultimately bring peace to your heart. The “Story of Kyoto” episodes of the Rurouni Kenshin series have become the best space of anime episodes I have ever watched. Nothing is sacrificed here. This series is ravishing, touching and, in my concept, a masterpiece onto itself. Steal this box situation and survey for yourself why this series is one of the greatest ever made!

After watching the first season of the favorite anime ‘Rurouni Kenshin,’ I view it wouldn’t glean worthy better. I discovered I was wrong: season two consists of the most mighty episodes in the anime. The deep characterization and intense battles of the series are intensified as undiscovered characters are met and parts of Kenshin’s mysterious past are unveiled gradually. Season 2 is considerably darker, and a central site and main conflict are demonstrate in the anime for the first time. It all begins with the visit of Saitou Hajime to the dojo, which leads to, by far, the best battle in the entire series. Kenshin discovers that the dangers he opinion had died with the revolution have returned to threaten the fate of Japan.

Addressing the extras included, outtakes are rather humorous, as are the character messages. The liner notes and attack list can be rather great in times of inquire. Fans of the music of the series will be gay with all the current opening/closing themes. (Contrary to one reviewer’s statement, these DVDs DO include Bonnie Pink’s closing theme “It’s Gonna Rain” AND L’arc~en~Ciel’s ending theme “4th Avenue Cafe,” as well as T.M. Revolution’s “Heart of Sword” and Kawamoto Makoto’s opening “1/2.”)

I highly recommend this savor to hardcore fans of Kenshin who are willing to exercise the money. (Actually, you achieve anyway by buying this incredible compilation.
